About Me

Educational History:

I attended Weatherford Public Schools all twelve years; graduating in 1983.  I then attended SWOSU, Hesston College, and Oklahoma State University.

Degrees and Certifications:

Bachelor of Science; Biological Science

Master of Science; Natural and Applied Science

Oklahoma Teacher Certificate

Professional Development:

I have always taken advantage of attending professional development opportunities as well as writing grants to maintain pedagogical techniques in science and teaching.  I have many certifications in specilaized areas of teaching, conservation, ecology, IACUC, microscopy, and leadership.  I have served on numerous boards and councils over the years to apply those skills as well as facilitating numerous conferences and leading many workshops in these areas.

Current Position:

2018 – 2019 was my first year teaching 5th grade Math and Science at Weatherford Public Schools.  I am currently teaching 5th grade Science.

Previous Position:

Started teaching 7 – 12 grade Science at Corn Bible Academy in 1989.  Attended graduate School at Oklahoma State University from 1994 – 1996 and taught Biology and Botany labs; worked in industry for a year as an assistant Plant Pathologist in Seedless Watermelon Research.  Started at Redlands Community College in 1998 and resigned in 2018.  Through the 20.5 years at the college, I taught Physical Science, Biology, Botany, Zoology, Anatomy, Physiology, and Leadership Development.  Wrote and administered many grants as a Professor and Science Coordinator and then moved into administration for the last several years.  I am back in the classroom as well as continiuing to maintain the family farm where I grew up North of Weatherford.

Family Information:

Bryan and I dated for 5 years while I taught at Corn Bible Academy and attended Graduate School in Stillwater.  Much of our dating life occurred at the dirt track with his pro-stock race car.  We married in 1996 and in 2006 had the privilege of taking care of my parents, due to illness, and his Father for the next 10.5 years.  We are blessed to still have his mother with us.  We were both raised on the farm and Bryan worked in his Dad’s Tractor Implement Dealership, Corn Implement, for most of his life.  He currently works at the Weatherford location of Western Equipment in parts.  I was the last of three girls, so my Daddy turned me into his “boy” teaching me to turn tools and drive many types of heavy equipment.  Bryan and I have had many pets throughout the years, enjoyed water skiing, riding motorcycles, day-long outings, racing, clowning together for the Corn Fire Department, and attending church together.  Bryan is a graduate of Corn Bible Academy and is retired from the Corn Fire Department.

Personal Information:

Music has been a very important part of my life as I grew up in a family that sang Southern Gospel music together giving programs in churches and community civic meetings. I gave piano lessons while in high school, sang in a bluegrass gospel band during my undergraduate college years, participated in choir tour, voice and piano.  I still sing in the worship team and special groups for church.  I enjoy nature and have the privilege of taking care of the family farm converting to no till in 2008.
